Mars Configuration

A typical MARS® configuration is a dual radar-based system which includes:

S-BAND RADAR (TracScan Horizontal Surveillance)
  • Detection of flying birds in ground clutter
  • Detection of flying birds in rain and snow
  • Detection of birds from the surface to 20° above the horizon with a 6 nautical mile range
  • Detection of flight headings
  • Sub-pixel spatial resolution radar data
  • 12-bit radar signal dynamic range
  • Track data and radar characteristics recorded in real time to MS Access or SQL compatible database
X-BAND RADAR (VerCat Vertical Altitude or TracScan Horizontal Surveillance)
  • VerCat Mode (vertical)
    • Detection of birds from the surface to 9,000 feet
    • Detection of moving bird targets with measurement of altitude and ground position
  • TracScan Mode (horizontal)
    • Detection of birds from the surface to 25° above the horizon within a 2 to 6 nautical mile radial range
    • Detection of flight headings
  • Either TracScan or VerCat Modes
    • Sub-pixel spatial resolution radar data
    • 12-bit radar signal dynamic range
    • Track data and radar characteristics recorded in real time to MS Access or SQL compatible database
